It’s Champions Cup time once again! Chelsea, who were victorious against Liverpool on July 27, continue their preseason against Champions League winners Real Madrid, who are still working on their fitness ahead of the La Liga season, on July 30 at 3pm EST. Real Madrid are a little rusty at the moment, with the La Liga campaign starting a week later than the English Premier League season. That means they’re not quite up to peak fitness yet, and a defeat can be excused as this is only preseason. Real are also missing key players, like Cristiano Ronaldo, who have been given extra time off following their Euro 2016 summer exertions.

Chelsea have high hopes in the Premier League for this season. Two new signings, N’Golo Kante from champions Leicester City and Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi have got the fans excited. And in new manager Antonio Conte, former boss of the Italian national team, they have a visionary coach who will get the best out of the players at his disposal. He’s a known disciplinarian, so if the players aren’t pulling their weight he will definitely let them know!
Real Madrid were humbled in their Champions Cup game against PSG on July 27, succumbing to a 3-1 loss against the French champions. They were sloppy in defense, but again, without first team central defenders like Pepe and Sergio Ramos, that can be excused.
But just because this is a preseason friendly, don’t expect Real coach Zinedine Zidane to go easy on his charges. He will want them eliminating their errors before the season starts.
