After three grueling rounds, Sunday will be the big day and a winner will be declared in the fourth and final golf Major of the year. The final round of the U.S. PGA has a lot of players crowded at the top of the leader board and it is still anyone’s tournament to win, or lose.
The competition was stiff from the beginning of this tournament. The first few rounds saw an international mix of golfers at the top of the board. Only 3 strokes separate the leader from 7 other players from around the world chasing after the major win.
At 8-under after the first 2 rounds, Emiliano Grillo, 23, the youngster from Argentina led the pack. Following closely behind Emiliano is a field which includes American Jimmy Walker, Henrik Stenson of Sweden and Martin Kaymer from Germany who rounds out the pack at the top. Last years winner, Jason Day, was off to a slow start. After the first few rounds he was 6 strokes off pace while sitting at 2-under. This major was not without controversy. Early in the tournament, it was discovered that officials had given out incorrect information about pin placement. The PGA would later have to issue an apology for the mistake, according to ESPN. The apology may be no consolation to golfer Colt Knost who bogeyed using the incorrect information. The hole may have cost him dearly as he went on to miss the cut. Ouch.
