Calling all ‘True Detective’ fans! This is your lucky day, because HBO has confirmed that the hit show is ‘not dead.’ So could this mean there is a third season upon us? See what the deal is here!
Season 3 may be in the cards for True Detective, guys! HBO’s new programming chief Casey Bloys announced to everyone’s surprise at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills July 30, that the show is “not dead,” Entertainment Weekly reported.
True Detective garnered 12 Emmy nominations and rave reviews after it’s premiere in 2014, but the shows popularity started to fizzle in its second season. The reason? The crime thriller’s writer, Nic Pizzolatto was the target of complaints when people began to take subject with his writing. But, Casey admitted that Nic could be slipping into another position, as a new writer could potentially take claim of the project.

Casey mentioned at the press tour that she spoke to Nic about the show, revealing “both he and HBO are open to another season.” AH! “I don’t think Nic has a take and he’s working on some other projects. We’re open to somebody else writing it and Nic supervising it. It’s a valuable franchise, it’s not dead, we just don’t have a take for a third season yet,” she said.
We were literally on the edge of our seat when we learned about this exciting news! Hopefully HBO can make it happen, because we’ve been missing True Detective for WAY too long!
