Aly Raisman may be the oldest member of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, but she may not be ready to hang up her leotard just yet. At just 22-years-old she is actually considered relatively old for the intense sport, but in a new interview with Bob Costas, she said, “never say never,” about an epic return and we are seriously hoping she makes a comeback to the games!
“If you had asked me a few months ago I would have definitely said I was done and I think Mihai Brestyan [her coach] would have said the same thing. But [Monday] we were talking and I’m going to take a break and then … never say never,” Aly told Bob, according to Larry Brown Sports. “I thought I was in the best shape of my life in 2012 and it’s even better here, so maybe I just get better with age,” she continued. We’re thinking she’s never looked better, so she’s got a point there!
Andrea Joyce of NBC even reported that Aly’s coach, Mihai, told her that “she was stronger than ever and should consider sticking around for 2020. Aly told Andrea she would consider it,” the site mentioned. So, it definitely seems like Aly is leaning toward a return!

Aly had an insanely great run in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She took home three gold medals in the games — a gold medal in the gymnastics team competition, as well as a silver in the all-around, and a silver in the floor exercise. Her teammate, Simone Biles, 19, took home the gold in the all-around.
While she has yet to confirm anything officially, aside from her subtle “never say never” hints, we have a pretty good feeling about a possible return. We don’t think this will be the last we see of Aly’s talents, because she just needs one more Olympics medal to tie the 16-time World Champ, Shannon Miller, 39, for the most medals won by an American woman! Not to mention, if Aly doesn’t attend the Tokyo Olympics, her own teammate, Simone could take that coveted title. Time will only tell if we get to see our girl Aly back in action, but we sure hope she decides to make a magnificent return! We’re rooting for you, girl!
