This is hilarious! Amy Schumer spoofed the upcoming Channing Tatum ‘Splash’ remake, with pics she claims inspired the gender-swapped reboot, in which Channing is the mermaid! Check out the funny photos here!
On Aug. 2, the 35-year-old comedian tweeted two pics of her and fellow comedian Kurt Metzger, 38, dressed up as an aquatic creature, and their love interest, in honor of the announcement that Channing Tatum, 36, would be playing a mermaid in the gender-reversed remake of the 1984 classic Splash. Okay, we don’t know if the pics inspired the film, but OMG are they funny.
In the photos, you can see Kurt is dressed in a long blonde wig, playing the classic female mermaid (but still sporting a beard) and Amy is clearly trying (unsuccessfully) to be a dude in a brown wig and white t-shirt. One pic has the two chilling in the water with scuba masks and goggles, and in one they are smiling on dry land. “We hope to have inspired the new Splash remake @Kurtmetzger and I hope Channing and Jillian [Bell] do us proud,” Amy captioned the photos.

The original flick was about a man, played by Tom Hanks, who reunites with the beautiful mermaid (Daryl Hannah) who miraculously saved him from drowning as a little boy. Obviously, he falls in love with her, unaware that she is actually part fish. But in this gender-swap reboot, Channing is the merman, and the 32-year-old Workaholics actress will be the love interest!
We always love Amy’s spoofs, and the latest one has us totally pumped to see the Splash remake. The original film was amazing, but reboots can be so fun when done right, or when there is a fun twist, just like the recently released Ghostbusters — also a gender-reserved version! Amy, you keep this up and maybe every classic will get a gender-swap reboot!
