Robby Hayes, 27, “lost” JoJo Fletcher, 25, to Jordan Rodgers, 27, in the final episode of The Bachelorette — which totally blindsided him! “I was so caught off guard,” Robby told PEOPLE magazine. “I was so confident in our relationship and my feelings for her. I had already been dreaming about our future together.”
But, the runner-up beautifully admits that everything he said to JoJo was still “from the heart.” “If I didn’t tell JoJo I loved her, I would have been lying. The only thing I’m upset about is what was taken from me. I come from a very traditional family where marriage is a one time thing. But it’s not just the marriage. It’s the picking of the ring, the asking the parents for permission, giving the speech before you get down on one knee. JoJo took that from me and I can’t ever get it back.”
Aww. We totally understand Robby, that’s a once in a lifetime moment! But, despite the crushing blow she gave him that day, “JoJo will always hold a portion of my heart,” he said. “I fell in love with her, and in falling in love, I attached strings. One of them was unconditional care for her. I want JoJo to be happy and if I’m not the guy, I understand.” How unbelievably beautiful. That’s real love, Robby. When you care more about the other person than yourself.

Robby is also clear headed enough to admit that JoJo’s fiancé, Jordan, is “a great guy.” “I respect the hell out of that kid. I think he’s sincere. And if JoJo couldn’t find happiness with me, I wanted her to find it with someone else.” Those are not easy words to say about the guy you lost the girl of your dreams to. But, remember, a part of Robby still cares for her, so obviously he wants what is best for her, and that’s Jordan.
