OMG! We have more ‘Hairspray Live!’ news and it’s SO. GOOD. Former Disney stars Dove Cameron and Garrett Clayton will be joining the cast of the musical! Read on for more of the fun details on the two newest cast members.
We are so excited to see Dove Cameron, 20, and Garrett Clayton, 25, in NBC’s upcoming TV production Hairspray Live! Both stole our hearts as child stars on the Disney Channel — Dove on Liv and Maddie and Garrett in Teen Beach Movie — and we’ve loved watching them grow up as people and actors since then! So, who will they be playing when they take the stage in NBC’s next big TV musical? Well, Dove will portray Amber Von Tussle, and Garrett will be taking on the role of Link Larkin! Both AMAZING and BIG roles.

CLEARLY, both Dove and Garrett were excited to be able to share their big news with the world after it was announced, as they both took to Twitter immediately to let their feels out on their epic new roles. And we can’t blame them. If we had a gig this good we’d be excited too!
Dove and Garrett are currently rounding out a show that’s shaping up to be as amazing as NBC’s other live specials, with a ridiculously good cast, including Kristin Chenoweth, Martin Short, Jennifer Hudson and Derek Hough. We know, what a crazy lineup? And for a fun coincidence, Dove will actually be playing the daughter of Kristin’s character — the same connection they had when they were in the Disney Channel movie Descendants! We CANNOT wait to see this classic production full of fantastic stars. The show will be filmed in Los Angeles and air LIVE on Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. Ah! Why can’t it be December, yet?
