Yikes! The WWE announced its decision to suspend its star player, Eva Marie on Aug. 17, after she violated the company’s wellness policies. Is she out for good? And what’s her hubby got to say?
Uh-oh! Eva Marie, 31, has been suspended for 30 days for violating the WWE’s strict policies. Eva, whose real name is Natalie Coyle, was scheduled to compete in a six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam on Aug. 21, but the organization has officially cut her, although her alternate has not been announced yet.

The WWE has not revealed the degree to which rule she broke under the long list of wellness violations. But to get a feel of what she could have done, the policy’s list includes the abuse of prescription medications, performance-enhancing drugs, and illegal recreational drugs, according to the professional wrestling company. The WWE Talent Wellness Program mandates that all players submit to regular drugs tests and cardiovascular stress tests, which are installed to pinpoint any substance abuse or risk of heart disease.
Eva’s husband Jonathan Coyle is not at all happy with the decision, claiming it was “unjust.”
He also posted the following support on Instagram:
And she isn’t the first to break the rules. Eva is the sixth WWE star to be suspended for violating the wellness policy in 2016 alone! Eva’s suspension follows behind fellow diva, Paige, 24, who was suspended on Aug. 17, and WWE, male wrestler, Alberto Del Rio, 39, who was suspended only one day before.
Unfortunately, this is a common trend in sports. And the issue of failing wellness programs extends way beyond the pro-wrestling world. Many other athletes, including recently retired baseball player, Alex Rodriguez, who was suspended in 2014, have been busted for illegal drug use.
Eva, who was a big player on the six-woman, SummerSlam team and an active face on E!’s reality show, Total Divas, will definitely be missed as the rest of her team move forward without her. But the bright side is she won’t be nixed from the competition forever. She will be eligible to return to the WWE on Sept. 17. Let’s just hope that come the fall, Eva will have learned her lesson and aced those wellness tests with flying colors!
