The 20th anniversary of JonBenet Ramsey’s murder is approaching in December 2016, and now, for the very first time since her death, Burke Ramsey is speaking out. Her brother will sit down with Dr. Phil McGraw to tell never-before-heard details about her killing.
The murder of pageant queen, JonBenet Ramsey, who was found dead inside her parent’s Boulder, CO home at the age of 6 on December 26, 1996, is still one of America’s most notoriously talked about crime cases. Now her brother Burke, 29, is ready to speak out for the first time about the tragedy that happened when he was just 9-years-old, in a three-part interview with Dr. Phil, Daily Mail reported.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the untimely death of JonBenet, but with the anniversary approaching in December Burke is set to reveal never-before-heard details inside his sister’s murder after constant accusers and tabloid headlines taunted the family after the case caused a media frenzy. The interview will air on September 12, 13 and 14.
Saddest Deaths Of 2016 — PICS
JonBenet was found battered and strangled in the basement of the family’s home just hours after her parents had reported her missing. With her wrists bound above her head and her mouth covered in duct tape, she was found with a nylon cord around her neck. The pageant beauty queen’s skull was cracked and a white blanket covered her body.
When her parents called police authorities to report her kidnapping, they claimed they found a ransom note demanding $118,000, ordering them not to contact police if they wanted their daughter to be returned to them safely. Police arrived to the home shortly after. John and Patsy Ramsey, her mother and father, remained primary suspects, until they were cleared in 2008. Patsy died in at age 49, from ovarian cancer. JonBenet’s brother was also thought to be a suspect since he was inside the home at the time of her disappearance, but his parents stood by their story that he was sleeping the entire time. He was later exonerated in May 1999 by DNA evidence.
The murder continued to be investigated in following years. Finally in August 2006, ten years after her death, John Mark Karr a 41-year-old schoolteacher, confessed to murdering JonBenet. He was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, but never charged with the murder because his DNA did not match that found on the girl’s body. He also claimed he had drugged her, but police found no drugs in her body at the time of the autopsy, causing distrust to cloud his confession.
New DNA tests swayed the district attorney in 2008 that the Ramsey family should not remain under suspicion any longer. However, in 2010, police desired to re-interview Burke in the continuation to investigate JonBenet’s death, the site mentioned.
You can catch Burke’s interview September 12, 13 and 14 when it premieres on the Dr. Phil show.
