It’s going to be a HUGE day for both track and field as the first events of the Decathlon kick off Aug. 17 and you can catch ALL of the amazing action via Live Stream. Keep an eye on U.S. favorite Ashton Eaton on his mission for a back to back gold in the event, as well as some key track races and here’s how to watch it all.
The quest to determine the greatest athlete alive is underway as the first five qualification events of the decathlon begin starting at bright and early at 5:30 AM EST. First up will be the 100m dash with its four heats before the guys move on from track to field. They’ll have a long day ahead of them heading on to compete in the long jump, shot put and high jump before ending the day nearly 12 hours later with the 400m dash at 5:20pm EST. Whew, that’s a whole lot of strengths to be tested in one long day, and they’re only halfway done as the next five events follow on Aug. 18. Vogue cover star Ashton Eaton, 28, is looking to become a back to back gold medalist in the Olympics’ most challenging test, after bringing home the gold at the London 2012 games. If you want to keep an eye especially on him, he’ll be running in the fourth heats of the 100m and 400m dashes, in group A in the long jump and shot put, and group B in the high jump.

The decathlon won’t be the only big event going on, with the finals in the women’s long jump starting at 5:15pm and American Brittney Reese, 29, is in third place after qualifications. Fingers crossed that she comes up with a medal! At 6pm EST on the track side of things, the men’s 200m dash qualifications start, followed by the women’s 200m final. Team USA members Deajah Stevens, 21, and Torie Bowie, 25, will be going for the gold at 6:30pm. The women’s 100m hurdles cap off the night at 6:55pm with the U.S.’s Brianna Rollins, 24, in the hunt for a medal.
