So we’ve found the one thing that can make Zayn Malik smile, no matter what! Zayn and girlfriend Gigi Hadid looked exhausted and kind of miserable as they walked through LAX on the night of Friday, August 12, (understandable), and they did not want to deal with the paps getting up in their faces (also understandable).
AS they’re walking toward a restricted corridor to get to their gate, people start shouting “One Direction!” at him. One fan’s voice rings out louder than the rest, as she screams “Yo Zayn, f**k One Direction!” Zayn whips his head around and gives her a huge smile, and laughs, before the LAX worker closes the gate and they’re whisked out of view.
Oh my god, this is everything. Zayn hasn’t been quiet about how he’s felt that being in One Direction stifled him creatively. But now that he’s off on his own, he’s not one for actually insulting the band — or his friends!
Zayn’s high spirits didn’t seem to last long, either, as HollywoodLife.com previously told you. When he and Gigi were spotted leaving LAX later, and in different outfits, they looked pretty bummed. They were side-by-side as they tried to make their way through baggage claim and bust through the sea of paps waiting for them outside, and clutched hands tightly.

But their faces…they were not having a good night! So was this just a case of simple jet lag after heading somewhere fast, and sprinting back? Or did something maybe go wrong on their little jaunt? Hopefully that’s not the case! Just one day before their airport excursion, Gigi posted a photo from Zayn’s GQ spread to her Instagram, and captioned it “dreamy.” How cute!
