So tragic! World leaders including President Obama are coming together to condemn the terrorist truck attack during Bastille Day fireworks in Nice, France that left at least 80 people dead. Keep reading for their messages to the French people.
This is becoming such a sad and regular occurrence when leaders of the Western World unite against yet another terrorist attack, mainly on European soil. This time it’s because of the July 14 Bastille Day tragedy in Nice where a terrorist plowed a truck down a packed beachside promenade where people had gathered to watch fireworks. After mowing over dozens of people celebrating France’s Independence Day, he then got out of the truck and began shooting, leaving at least 80 people dead in his wake.
President Barack Obama released a statement reading: “On behalf of the American people I condemn on the strongest terms what appears to be a horrific terrorist attack in Nice, France, which killed and wounded dozens of innocent civilians. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and other loved ones of those killed, and we wish a full recovery for the many wounded.”
“I have directed my team to be in touch with French officials, and we have offered any assistance they may need to investigate this attack and bring those responsible to justice. We stand in solidarity and partnership with France, our oldest ally, as they respond and recover from this attack,” he continued.
“On this Bastille Day, we are reminded off the extraordinary resilience and democratic values that have made France an inspiration to the entire world, and we know that the character of the French Republic will endure long after this tragic loss of life,” he concluded.
Presumed Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton told CNN that “I am sick at heart about what’s happened to the French people. This is a horrific attack, we have to stand with our allies and not abandon them”

Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump jumped on the tragedy, asking how many more of these sad events need to keep happening and even postponing the announcement of his Vice Presidential pick in light of the horrific carnage.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was one of the first world leaders to address the tragedy, sharing his shock and sorrow, as well as Canada’s solidarity with the French people.
