Bravo, well done sir! Jimmy Walker has won the 2016 PGA Championship with a final round of 67. After four grueling rounds at Baltusrol Golf Club’s Lower Course in Springfield, New Jersey, Jimmy bested the competition for his first major title. Keep reading for all the info on his amazing win.
It was an incredible tournament with lots of name changes on the leader board. Emiliano Grillo, 23, the long driver from Argentina led the pack on the outset of the tournament. Emiliano was followed closely by an international cast of world class pros. Teasing the board all weekend were hard-charging American’s Jason Day and Robert Streb. Other names with great scores after the first few days of play included Henrik Stenson of Sweden and Martin Kaymer from Germany.

Ultimately, Sunday was owned by Jimmy. He shot an amazing final round and with ice running through his veins he pulled ahead dashing hopes in his wake, finishing with an outstanding score of -14. In 2015, Jason Day was the big winner with the lowest score in history and this year Jimmy got the job done with an almost equally impressive score — even with last year’s winner (and No. 1 golfer in the world) trailing right behind him! Tradition states that all winers have open invites to return to the tournament for the rest of their playing days. So this may be Jimmy’s first major title, but it certainly seems like it won’t be his last!
The PGA Championship, like almost every other major, was not free from controversy. At the top of the tournament officials had to issue an apology after they made a massive screw-up, possibly costing one golfer his shot at the win. Colt Knost did not take the PGA’s apology well. Colt bogeyed after reading incorrect pin information for a hole on day one of the tournament. Yikes. The extra stroke was enough to push Colt off pace and as a result he missed the first cut. Ouch. The PGA went on to admit they had submitted cards with wrong hole information, according to ESPN. Oops!
