The tragic story of Anton Yelchin’s death continues. The ‘Star Trek’ star’s parents are planning to sue Fiat Chrysler and other companies who they they believe to be responsible for the ‘wrongful death’ of their son. Read on for the sad details.
Anton Yelchin was killed in June when his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled backward at his house, pinning him against a security gate. The actor’s parents want punitive damages “for the wrongful death of their son due to significant defects,” in the Jeep — which is made by Fiat Chrysler, according to TMZ.
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, the 27-year-old’s death was confirmed as an “accident caused by blunt traumatic asphyxia.” Police said he did not properly put his car in park, and are calling the tragic situation “just one of those freak accidents.”
“At this time, all indications appear to lead our investigators to believe this was a tragic accident,” police said on June 20. ” The investigation is ongoing so we have not made any final determination as to the cause of the accident only that it does appear to be accidental and not an intentional act. The vehicle is a 2015 black Jeep Grand Cherokee. It appears that the vehicle rolled backward on the sloped driveway pinning the victim between the vehicle and a pillar.”
