What a bombshell! After her two-year legal battle against super producer Dr. Luke, Kesha has decided to withdraw her sexual assauly lawsuit against him so she can get her recording career back on track. Keep reading for the shocking details of why she’s suddenly giving up her legal fight.
OMG, we totally didn’t see this coming. Kesha, 29, has filed papers to dismiss her sexual assault lawsuit against record producer Dr. Luke – a.k.a. Lukas Gottswald, 44, who she’s been locked in a legal war with for the past two years. “Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label,” Daniel Petrocelli, partner at O’Melveny & Myers, said in a statement to BuzzFeed News. “We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release the single and an album as soon as possible.”
Her legal noted that she recorded all that new music on her own dime so she could fulfill her contractual obligations to Dr. Luke and his Kemosabe record label with Sony Music. The singer hasn’t released an album of new music since 2012 and wants to get her career back on track as soon as she is legally able to put out new music without it going through Dr. Luke’s label.
The singer sued Dr. Luke back in 2014, claiming he drugged and sexually assaulted her. In response, the pair’s professional relationship came to a grinding halt, and Kesha still owed Kemosabe another six albums worth of music. She went to court in April to get out of her contract with him and Sony Music, but a judge denied the request, saying that Sony had made the offer to let her work with other producers at the company.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Dr. Luke will finally release Kesha from her recording contract now that she’s dropped her sexual assault lawsuit?
