This match was expected to be the gold medal match, but due to Spain’s poor showing in the group stages, per Reuters. Spain lost to Brazil and Croatia, before rebounding and winning four straight games, including a 92-67 blowout over France.
Team USA – featuring stars like Kevin Durant, 27, Klay Thompson, 26, Kyle Lowry, 30, and more – have also been less of a Dream Team and more of a snooze squad. Despite starting off with an impressive 119-62 win over China, the US men struggled to get past Australia, Serbia, and France. Only when they trounced Argentina, 105-78, did they come alive. They can’t sleep on Spain, or else the American men will leave Rio empty handed.

“[Spain] is another challenging team, so we have to come in right” American point-guard Paul George, 26, said ahead of the match. “They’re good. Another team full of pros. They have a little bit of everything. They have shooters, big men, ball handlers, scorers.”
It’s clear that USA needs to bring it or else. They’re so close to playing for the gold, and to lose now would be the biggest of disappointments. The winner of Spain Vs. USA will go on to meet the winner of Serbia Vs. Australia in the finals. The losers of the matches will square off for the Bronze.
Who do you think is going to win this match, HollywoodLifers? Will Spain shock the Americans or will the Dream Team dunk their way to the finals?
