Some of the greatest relationships have sparked from close friends, yet some of the worst have too. There’s certain signs you need to look out for when trying to figure out if your guy best friend is your secret true love.
For instance, Mila Kunis, 32, and Ashton Kutcher, 38: They had a completely platonic relationship during That 70’s Show although they played a romantic couple in the sitcom. “I never looked at him as somebody that was good looking, I never looked at him as somebody that wasn’t,” Mila revealed during an interview with Howard Stern. She told the radio personality that the two stayed in touch but were never romantically involved until she noticed him at an awards show. Fast-forward years later and the two are happily married. HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY got the scoop from Jennifer Zucher Co-founder of Project Soulmate about what signs to look for when trying to figure out if your best guy friend is in fact the one.
1. If your guy best friend finds something wrong with all of the people you’re dating!
Jennifer tells us that this could “show signs of jealousy, especially if everyone else in your life loves the person you bring around.” Your guy friend will be super “nit-picky, and ultra critical of this person,” as opposed to being encouraging and supportive.
2. Your best guy friend is always finding any excuse in the book to be with you…
They will go out of their way to spend time with you, even if it means canceling their previous plans. Jennifer dishes that “even if you all of a sudden become free at the last minute, the guy will drop everything just to see you.”
3. Flirting.
“There’s flirting, and then there’s flirting,” she says. The Project Soulmate co-founder breaks that down by revealing that best friends are playful and fun, but they “shouldn’t really be flirting.” She gives an example of your guy friend being very touchy-feely. “Sometimes they can even use going out for a drink or a night on the town as a way to amp up the flirtation.” Excessive compliments fall under this sign too!

4. When your best guy friend asks you to hang out alone — a lot.
When they start to ask to see you alone, and in less of a group setting with other friends, they could be trying to drop a hint that they’re in to you. Especially if you always suggest for other friends to come along, and your guy friend insists on keeping it just the two of you. This gives him better opportunity to make a move on you.
5. Communication…
Texting you a lot throughout the day and night excessively, or constantly, is a sure sign there could be more than just friendship there. If the topics of conversation are more personal, they’re asking you a lot of questions or they want to know everything and anything, then that means they care — but in the “I like you” way.
