So adorable! Michael Phelps’ littlest fan was in the stands to watch him win his first gold at the Rio Olympics Aug 7. You’ve got to see the precious photo of his infant son Boomer cradled in mother Nicole Johnson’s arms as they collapsed in joy over the swimmer’s 19th gold medal victory.
Michael Phelps, 31, has two new additions to his cheering section at the 2016 Rio Games – his fiancée Nicole Johnson, 31, and baby boy Boomer, three months. They were seated with his always animated mom Deborah to watch him compete in the Men’s 4 x 100 freestyle relay and the little one was already dressed in a patriotic red carrying jumper with big white stars and his papa’s initials “MP” emblazoned on the front in bright blue.
The baby was snuggled away tight into is mother’s chest and had on a set of white earphones to help protect his precious eardrums from the roaring cheers of the audience. While we didn’t get to see little Boomer’s face, the top of his head showed off tufts of brown hair just like his mom and dad.
Nicole and Deborah looked super serious in the stands as Michael got ready to go for his record 19th gold medal in the Men’s 4 x 100 freestyle alongside teammates Nathan Adrian, Ryan Held and Caeleb Dressel. Michael wasn’t supposed to make his first Rio games appearance until Aug. 8’s 200M butterfly heats, but as soon as he was on the team that was going for a medal, Nicole and Deborah were seen cheering their hearts out in the stands for what was actually a very tight race for the U.S. team. But with the best swimmer in the world competing with them, they guys totally came out on top, earning the first men’s swimming gold of the Olympics and Michael’s record 19th gold medal. Unbelievable!
It’s so sweet that little Boomer was on hand to watch Daddy’s big achievement. We have a feeling we’ll be seeing plenty of the adorable little one and his mom in the stands as Michael continues to make even greater Olympic history!
