Aug. 12th will be an incredible day of boxing for any Olympic fan. The first American to step into the ring in Brazil will be Nico Hernandez who is favored against his opponent, the south paw from Uzbekistan Hasanboy Dusmatov. These guys are fighting in the light fly weight class of 49kg or roughly 108 pounds. The fight is set to begin at 8:15am EST from Rio and this is a semifinal round meaning both boxers are fighting for a chance to go for the gold in the finals. The next big bout for the American team will be a quarterfinal light weight fight at 60 kg. Representing team USA is the young fighter from California, 24 year-old Mexican-American Carlos Balderas. Getting in the ring with Carlos will be Lazaro Alzro from Cuba. This fight is set to pop off at 11:30am EST. These guys are sure to put on an exciting fight and have never before met each other in the ring.

The final fight for the die-hard American fight fan to keep an eye out for will be when some women square off in the light class at 60 kg. Representing the American ladies is the brawler from Los Angeles, California, Mikaela Mayer. Stepping into the ring for some action against Mikaela is the scrappy fighter from Micronesia, Jennifer Chieng. The bell for the first round in this fight will ding at about 4:30 EST.
