Sam qualified seventh in the competition with a score of 89.041, two points behind the leader, Oleg Verniaiev, 22, of the Ukraine. Chris secured a position with a score of 86.331, though both need to step it up if they want to take home the gold, silver or bronze. They can’t have any falls or stumbles like the ones that doomed them in the team all-around competition.

“I just don’t think we were amped as much as we needed to be at that moment,” Sam said after he and Team USA fell to fifth place, per The OC Register. “Once we started really cheering for each other, screaming and yelling, that’s what we normally do best. I don’t think we did that at the beginning. I think everyone was just not together.”

Hopefully, there’s plenty of cheering for Sam and Chris as they attempt to pull off a victory. The competition will be stiff and rough. Maybe the men could ask the Women’s gymnastic team to take a break from dominating the competition to help encourage the guys along?

Who do you think will take the gold medal, HollywoodLifers? Do you think the USA has a chance of winning?
