WOAH! After Adele publicly addressed rumors that she was asked to perform during the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show and rejected the offer, the NFL and Pepsi are firing back! The organizations slammed Adele’s claims that they wanted her for the coveted spot, and even said they NEVER ‘extended a formal offer’ to the singer! See the explosive statement here!
“The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else,” the joint statement read, according to Billboard. “We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.” WOW!
Since the NFL and Pepsi are saying Adele wasn’t even offered the gig, we’re wondering what’s really happening behind the scenes! They did however claim they were fans of the 28-year-old, so is there bad blood between them? It does seem a bit sketchy since there MAY be two sides to the story here, but who knows?
The organizations did mention that they have had talks with other artists, and we’re very curious about who they’ve been chatting with for the coveted music gig! Claiming they’ve “not formally offered” the gig to “anyone” else, means there is no set performer for the 2017 show, right? Thanksgiving may seem far away, but it’s quickly approaching, so we hope they can lock down an awesome artist to join the likes of Beyonce, 35, Coldplay and so many other iconic performers!
There has been speculation that there was a good chance Adele would potentially be taking the stage at Super Bowl LI for quite some time now. But, the singer decided to address the rumor at her concert August 13 at the Staples Center in LA. She said, “First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl. I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really — I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.” While we’re unsure what made her want to clarify the buzz, Adele sounded adamant about her feelings toward the halftime show performance. Then, it didn’t take long for the both organizations to hit back at her claims that they asked her.
