The bosses behind ‘The Real O’Neals’ have finally spoken out about their star, Noah Galvin, who gave a very offensive interview in June, calling out actors who have come out as gay.

During the Summer Press Tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, The Real O’Neals executive producers were asked about the Noah Galvin interview that came out in Vulture and how it affected the show’s filming.

“There wasn’t much going on behind the scenes. The article came out, and Noah regretted what he said and apologized really quickly,” EP Casey Johnson told reporters. “We all say things we wish we hadn’t. It’s all good. We all got back to work. There wasn’t that much buzzing behind the scenes.” She also added that the report that ABC had threatened to cut their episode order after the interview, was not true.

In case you forgot, the show’s star Noah, who plays a gay teen on the show, and is openly gay in real life, went off in an interview with Vulture magazine, bashing multiple gay stars.

“That’s not coming out,” Noah told Vulture, referring to Colton Haynes‘ interview with Entertainment Weekly. “That’s f***ing p***y bulls**t. That’s like, ‘Enough people assume that I sleep with men, so I’m just going to slightly confirm the fact that I’ve sucked a dick or two.’ That’s not doing anything for the little gays but giving them more masturbation material.”

He also fired shots at fellow ABC star, Eric Stonestreet, calling him a “wonderful” actor before going off.

“He’s playing a caricature of a caricature of a stereotype of stereotype on ‘Modern Family.’ And he’s a straight man in real life. And as hilarious as that character is, there’s a lack of authenticity,” Noah said. “I think people — especially young gay kids — they can laugh at it, and they can see it as a source of comedy, but like, nothing more than that. And I want Kenny to be more than the funny gay kid.”

Later, Noah did apologize on Twitter.
