Selena has also spent the year standing up, unattached, having no time for the Jelena drama that plagued her in the past. It’s nice to see her finally free of that baggage and ready to embrace a new, single-and-ready-to-mingle lifestyle. Of course, alone does not mean lonely by any means. If anything, Selena spent this year having fun with her girlfriends. Professionally, Selena has been rising through the ranks like never before (#TBT to Selena Gomez & the Scene.) Since the release of her sexy sophomore solo project, Revival, Selena’s new adult image has only brought her record breaking success. Debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart, the album granted us with some huge hits, including “Hands to Myself,” “Same Old Love,” and “Kill ’em With Kindness.” But that’s only her musical career. Sel also returned to film this year with a huge splash, landing a leading role in the indie dramedy, The Fundamentals of Caring and portraying sorority president in Neighbors: Sorority Rising. Oh, and we can’t forget her hilarious cameo in that Inside Amy Schumer sketch.
Finally, Selena has really stepped up her fashion game, building on her new, mature taste. At the 2016 Met Gala, she took a fashion risk in a 90s throwback style dress in addition to some risqué tour outfits that showed off plenty of skin. If we needed anymore convincing, Sel definitely showed us that she isn’t afraid to be daring and sexy now that she’s well into her twenties.
