Uh-oh! Blake Shelton is under fire after some seriously racist and offensive tweets allegedly posted by the singer in 2011 were discovered by fans. Read on to see the ‘disgusting’ tweets and get the full scoop on the controversy.
The tweets, which Blake Shelton, 40, is accused of having posted five years ago, include racist, homophobic and sexist comments. The messages, which have yet to be independently verified as Blake’s, were posted to as screenshots by users who accused him of deleting the “disgusting” and “extremely offensive” messages. “Wish the d******** in the next room would either shut up or learn some English so I would at least know what he’s planning to bomb,” read one of the extremely racist and offensive tweets. Another shocking tweet was a sexual remark about then 16-year-old actress Dakota Fanning. “So I just figured out a great excuse for my sick fantasy about Dakota Fanning. I thought she was Amanda Seyfried…,” Blake allegedly wrote.

He has been accused of being sexist for the tweet, “I was 19 years old when my heart first got broken. I’m over it now but I wonder what that fat ugly b**** is up to,” and homophobic for the message, “Grown men who wear Chuck Taylor’s may as well write on their forehead ‘Cucumbers turn me on!” We cannot believe how appalling these tweets are, and neither can Twitter users. Some coming after The Voice star hard for the remarks, like the Twitter user who wrote, “‘Racist piece of s***… So Blake Shelton did everything in the past, being homophobe, being racist, a pedophile, and animal cruelty? I am speechless….” But there are definitely mixed feelings on the matter, with some fans willing to let him off the hook for the tweets being five years old — and some not.
Whatever the case may be, we are extremely shocked by the tweets and hope that Blake’s camp will come out with a response soon to give fans an answer for these messages. Blake is known and loved by many for his work on The Voice, his music and his inspiring relationship with fellow singer Gwen Stefani, 46. We would hate to see all of that ruined by horrible tweets, but if Blake did write them, he needs to answer for them. And Blake doesn’t have a perfect track record when it comes to Twitter.
In 2011, GLAAD became furious with the singer when he tweeted out a revision to the lyrics to Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine,” to read, “Any man that tries Touching my behind He’s gonna be a beaten, bleedin’, heaving kind of guy.” “One has to wonder how Shania feels about seeing her anthem about strong women and female empowerment turned into a violent threat,” GLAAD said in response.
At first, Blake did not apologize, instead tweeting, “Ha! Reading all my anti-gay hate tweets… Ha! Ha! If people only knew even a little about me, my family and friends. Dumb a****.” But an hour later he returned to Twitter to make amends. HollywoodLife.com has reached out to Blake’s representative for comment.
