The dream team is back at it again! Kyrie Irving, Carmelo Anthony, and the rest of the U.S. men’s basketball team takes on Serbia in their fourth Rio Olympics game on Aug. 12, looking to remain undefeated in the preliminary rounds. Watch all of the action on a live stream right here!
After dominating their first two games with wins by more than 50 points, the U.S. men’s basketball team was tested by Australia in their third preliminary game on Aug. 10. Only winning by a mere 10 points, Team USA got a taste of what it feels like to not be the top dog, which surely shook them up a bit going into the rest of the competition. Tough efforts by all the team’s superstars got the job done, though, and they’re likely more than ready to prove that they won’t be getting that close to a loss again!

The near-loss to Australia hit a nerve in Carmelo Anthony — the men’s program’s only four-time Olympian — who was part of the 2004 squad when they suffered a shocking loss to Argentina at the Athens Games. Carmelo was key in carrying the men’s team over Australia, mainly because he wasn’t ready to relive the heartbreak.
“We know that feeling, and we don’t want to experience that feeling anymore,” he said, according to USA Today.

Up until the Australia game, Team USA has won 71 consecutive games, and with names like Carmelo, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson on the roster, they’re expected to go far — maybe even all the way, as they have in five out of the last six Olympics (that dang 2004). They’ve been dubbed the “dream team,” so there’s no way they expected to be challenged so early in the competition. But we’re thinking the close call will only light the fire under their feet even more! No Cable TV? Relax! Click Here to learn How To Watch The Olympics Online
Serbia is coming off of a tough loss too, losing to France by only one point in their third game. They’ll likely be ready to bring their best efforts against the powerhouse USA team, so the guys better be prepared. Either way, we’re set for an intense match!
